Is this a result of overwatering??

I don't remember the name of the plant. Some quite young plant I planted last autumn and got moved once to a shady area as it has failed to thrive.

Now this plant looks really poorly. Even the new leaves have yellow edges. I can't decide if it's overwatered or underwatered, as it's under a conifer. I thought it probably struggle to compete for water, but now I'm not sure at all!

Whatever plant it is, it won’t like being under a conifer.  I don’t think garden plants can have too much water,  they survive a weeks worth of rain sometimes more.
I would move it away from the conifer.
I don't know what the plant is,  I’m sure someone will though.

  • I thought it might settle, as just a few inches away, there are many other young plants growing well. Or maybe they would finally start protesting once they grow to size? It's really hard to have a conifer in my small garden!

I agree, they’re not very good in a small garden, they grow blooming huge🙂
Could  you take it out and get something nice.

  • I thought about it. But it does provide some of the vital shades for lots of plants from late morning till early afternoon. If I take it out, I will have to replan the entire garden. A bit complicated to deal with. I will see how other plants cope in that area in the long run...
