roses

Can anyone tell me how I can go about planting a rose where another rose has been?  I am not particularly happy with a climber I have & would like to replace it with a rambler.  I know there can be issues by doing this but I have no other choice but to replace it where the current rose sits.  How can I get round this problem? Any advice would be appreciated.
