Plant I just bought but unidentified.

Advice on name and position for this plant please:
A grass yes? but not a bamboo? is my guess. Need to know best position. Many thanks.

Could be Arundo Donax but that is all I can add.

Looks like a type of Phalaris (Reed Grass)

edit - but having just looked up Arundo, I'd agree with @GardenerSuze
    Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

@happyhacker You could take a look at Knoll Gardens web site that might help.  Think it might get big!

Beware.  Whenhappy it sends out root runners just like couch grass and bamboo so keep an eye on it or grow it in a planter to restrict it.  This is what the RHS says about growing it - https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/1675/i-arundo-donax-i/details
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
