Verbena spicata

I have a verbena spicata growing in a pot (the others are in the ground), and it is starting to look rather sorry for itself after a good start. The leaves seem to have some kind of silvery mould on them. The flowers, although ok, don’t look as vigorous as they did. Has anyone got any ideas as to what the problem might be. Perhaps it needs to go in the border rather than stay in the pot, or needs a feed of some sort?

    Is it Veronica spicata?
I have a few clumps of them and I find they are prone to mildew during dry spells.
I don't treat it in any way.
The following year they come up again ok, and sometimes they get mildew again...
If you cut it right back after flowering the new foliage should be ok, but you may not get any more flowers this year.

The ground they're in is often dry and I don't often water my garden unless it really needs it.

Sorry, that should say Veronica, not verbena!

Thank you @Pete.8 for your advice. Yes, I meant Veronica  :).
Ill take your advice, and cut it back after flowering. I think you’re right, and it’s probably mildew.
I have some growing in a border, and they are much healthier looking.
