Can anyone help me identify this very large wasp?

  That's a beetle. I'm not familiar with North American insects and I'd need to see it from the top to help more than that but you should be able to Google large beetles in your location for more help. Otherwise I can recommend uploading the photos to iNaturalist.org for help from local experts.
