Olive tree help

We have a mature olive tree which has suddenly developed peacock spot and I am confused as to how to water it. Some places say that they need lots of water regularly while others say that they don’t because in their natural habitat (Greece, Spain etc) in the summer it is dry. I have been told that peacock spot is made worse by the tree having roots that are too wet, but I know that if they are too dry they can lose leaves too. Our tree is shedding leaves at an alarming rate and we are scared we will lose it. Any help or advice would be most welcome

I am not familiar with this condition but in general giving any tree a good soak,  then leaving it till almost dry  before watering again.  Depending on the size of the tree, a good soak means-30+ litres at a time.

I don't know about Peacock Spot but it is a myth that Mediterraneum plants need dry conditions.  Think Basil.  Many grow very deep roots that find the water.  Nor is it that dry in th Med.  Nice has twice the annual rainfall of London, but it falls in half the number of days; usually very hard for a short time.

My mophead Olive tree in a pot dried out this dry Spring and all the leaves went brown and crisp.  I cut it hard back in May (more mop-like) and is now resprouting.

I have a couple of Oleander bushes in pots.  They used to drop flowers but I was advised two things:  1. Keep constantly moist in a saucer of water, 2.  Remove the new shoots that grow just below the flowers.  I did both and it worked.
