Not sure if my earlier posting re. squirrels was accepted. This was regarding squirrels taking off flower heads from sunflower plants this year after them taking the seeds last year.

Hi @SarahKate Not sure there is very much you can do to stop a determined squirrel.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

Has anyone else had squirrels do this to sunflowers?    They often go for the fat-ball holder and also the bird seed.

No, I had some a couple of years back, and two regular squirrels coming over for the cherries, (and to impress me by untying string), but they never showed any interest in the sunflowers.
A lot of animals have a very favourite food, so maybe yours were just smitten with sunflowers.
