White mould (?) in soil

Hi everyone! 

I was moving some plants around the other day and noticed that there is something strange going on in an area of my front flowerbed. 

There is some sort of white mould (?) in the soil. Can anyone explain this?

    @hatty_ Nothing to worry about. Have you used alot of compost, it is some sort of fungi I think it's just breaking down in the soil.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    Agree, it’s quite normal — just soil fungus doing its thing
