Salvia blaze of fire

I haven't grown salvia "blaze of fire" before and wonder if its as Hardy as "hot lips" , how do I over winter or is it an annual?

    Hello Patricia, these are annuals in my garden. My father in law used to grow them in a bed with some monbretia in the summer- fiery red display, looked fab from the street.

    I agree, it's a form of Salvia splendens. It's technically perennial but is tender so it's grown as an annual bedding plant (in the UK at least).
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • Thanks guys, I think I'll take into my greenhouse and see what happens.  Another question, can you overwinter gazania?
