Is this fireblight?

KayWKayW Posts: 2
Hello everyone.
Last autumn, we planted a rowan ('Autumn Spire').  Two of the branches have shown the same issue - leaves wilting and going brown, flowers dying off. I think it's fireblight, but I'd like some other opinions! There flowers lasted a while before dying, and when I peeled the bark back, there wasn't the staining. But everything else looks like fireblight to me?

    Hello Kay,
If the bark isn't damaged l don't think it's fireblight. I suppose it's possible the bark damage might appear later, but l don't know for sure.
Is there any pus like substance appearing ?
A bit more information here which might help in the meantime, until with luck someone here can confirm exactly what it is  :)

Thanks @AnniD - had a good read through last night!

I took the branch off this morning, and found this when I stripped the bark at the top - I think I must have tested too far down the branch first time round.
It's a shame, as the branch was at eye level and it's now clearly been pruned. But much better than potentially losing the whole thing!
