Vine weevil or leaf cutter bee?

Good afternoon.

Lots of half moon shaped holes have appeared on my acer recently and I am hoping that they’re caused by cute wee bees who are very welcome to bits of leaf. However, I have had vine weevils in pots in the past and have used nematodes but not this year so wondering if it’s the evil wee beasties making a comeback.  Any thoughts of what could be causing these?

Many thanks.

I agree @B3@catrionad21E8Ym3ES1 ‘s photo looks like the work of Leafcutter Bees 👍

I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • That is very welcome news. Thank you all.

If you are patient you can watch the bees at work. Fascinating.
