Aruncus sawfly

Does anyone else get aruncus sawfly?
I have 3 large plants, and the lower leaves of all of them are shredded.
The blooms seem unaffected.
Any suggestions to avoid or minimise next year would be really helpful.
Many thanks,

I’ve  never seen them , I’ve got a huge white one and the shorter pink variety.

    Hi @Lyn,

It's the big white one I've got .... Aruncus sylvester.
    Happens every year.
The smallest one has no leaves left, and the 2 bigger ones have all the lower leaves shredded.
Think it might be too dry where they are, so I'm going to move all of them to a damper spot at the end of the summer.
It's a shame because they look good where they are.

I'll also have a look for some nematodes. Maybe the gooseberry sawfly ones would work.

I don’t know which nematodes, I expect google will say.  My Solomon's Seal get eaten every year by sawfly caterpillars,  I just cut the stalks and lay them on the path for the birds.

Yep ... my Solomon's Seal tends to get nibbled towards the end of the season.

Now the ruddy pheasants are tucking into the strawberries rolleyes
    Nature eh!

Mine too although the ones outside seem to have put themselves there, I grow them in pots in GH.
