Daisy for ID

edited June 2022 in Plants
Can anyone identify this plant, which is growing through my Heleniums? It is four feet tall and the flowers are about the same size as a daisy.

Looks to me like some kind of aster...
  • Symphyotrichum lanceolatum is the best match that I can find, but I don't know how it could have got here.

It could be Erigeron Annuus, the tall Fleabane.

could we see a bit more of it

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • This is one of the lower leaves.

  • I think it is Erigeron anuus. I did grow one a number of years ago, this is presumably from one of its seeds which has finally decided to germinate. Apparently it can self-seeds freely, although not so much for me!
