What size planter for a jasmine climber

Hello!
I'd like to plant a jasmine climber in my alley way. It will need to be planted in a container. Does anyone know how large it needs to be in order for the plant to really thrive? I've looked and found mixed reports. Some say it needs to be huge! I've found one which seems to be large enough but it's so expensive.
