Which variant of "GENISTA CYTISUS" is this?

I bought this lovely plant on sale from the garden centre. I was in a rush so didn't do much research about it with my phone at the spot. Instead, I went with my feeling...

Only when I got back home, I realised this plant was infested with black aphid. The pests looked like dead, as none was moving. I waterjeted it all over and then sprayed it all over after the leaves dried. Hopefully the aphid problem has been solved.

But new problem came up. The label on the pot says "GENISTA CYTISUS" without naming which variant. Not much information about how tall it would grow either (which is important as I have a very narrow garden.)

Can someone help me identify which variant is this? How tall it would get? Can I hard prune it to limit its size? Is the narrrow column shape maintainable or not, as I like it this way.

Thanks.

@rolanda.woo There is one called G Lydia but your plant looks to be stronger growing. Someone else will be able to help I am sure. I don't think pruning into old wood is advisable but again someone may suggest otherwise.

  • @GardenerSuze Thank you! I would really love to know more. They all look similar when I look up online. The G Lydia variant seems to be dwarf shrub which is great. But RHS marked it as deciduous, whilst this one is marked as "evergreen" on the label from the nursery. So a bit confusing here..

There is another I have seen but only on line G Porlock. The photographs are poor but it does have an RHS AGM. If you have a membership RHS would help you. I think unless anyone else can offer help it is back to your G C. They must know their stock

    G. 'Porlock' sounds a good shout.

Genista and Cytisus are different (but related) genera - it's just been inaccurately labelled IMO

  • @Loxley, thank you. It does match better. And it's promising that the eventual size will be manageable.

@GardenerSuze, I will ask the staff in the garden centre next time when I am there. Thanks!
