It won't die

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice.
I have a plant spreading through my lawn that looks like blackened moss and has small green leaves.
I've tried raking, scarifying, Weedol (aka Verdone), 4in1 weed and feed, iron sulphate but nothing touches it. It been in the lawn for about 4 years but now seems to be spreading quickly.
If anyone has any idea what it is or how to eradicate it I would be hugely grateful.

The top photo looks like a type of oxalis.

The moss and the leaves (oxalis) are two different plants.

I don't know if it is (and hope it's not), but could the 'moss' be mare's tail trying to grow?
Maybe regular mowing is keeping it small..
    Just a guess

It looks like moss to me and it will blacken if you put moss killer on it, then you rake it out. The clover like one is the oxalis. It looks as though there is couch grass in there too.

Yes I think it is a moss of some sort I have seen it in poorly drained lawns.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • If the wider leaves plant tastes lemony, that would help identify it as oxalis.
