Hi All
what can I do with a 5 gallon container of old comfrey and nettle tea that is approximately  2 years old, Is it OK to put it on my compost heap??? if not how should I dispose of it

I've used some that old in the normal way a couple of weeks ago and the plants didn't mind. I don't know if it degrades over time but it seemed fine. You can bung it on the compost heap if you need to.

I am using last years now, before this years is fully brewed.  The plants don't seem to be objecting. Nettle tea round the brassicas, comfrey round flowering  plants.  I can't see the micro elements  and minerals escaping out of the bottle. It actually smells a lot less than fresh stuff.

My query is almost the opposite; I’ve recently “brewed” comfrey stems and leaves for two to three weeks then semi filtered it off into old plastic bottles. However I’m not sure how to use it ie dilution rate. It’s to mainly use on mixed pots and potted pelargoniums..thanks

Fidgetbones : I've  Just been up to the container and had a sniff, it's definitely a sweeter smell not as pungent as it was when I first brewed the stuff
Thevictorian: I'm going to really water it down and pre-soak my empty raised beds before I plant out my beetroot seedlings spinach and Swiss chard next week, the soil looks a bit dry after I had removed all the overgrown  herbs and kale stumps etc.  I don't think it will do any harm but  fingers crossed

@Bilje  You need to dilute it so that it is the colour of weak tea.  I put about a pint into a watering can full.

I tend to dilute one part tea to ten parts water, or there abouts. If it is really well brewed and dark then you need to dilute it more than if it's a weak colour but I don't think it matters massively.

I’ve previously used one year old nettle tea and it didn’t smell at all which was much better when it came to accidental splashes
