Purple and pink toadflax?

Slow-wormSlow-worm Posts: 1,630
I have 3 or 4 pink flowers in the toadflax - which is great, but it's never thrown a pink one before, is it usual?

It happens from time to time.  There is also a 'selected' pink form called Linaria 'Canon Went',

Yes I've seen that, very pretty.. I hope I get more pink flowers, it'd look great with the purple!

I get the occasional pink-flowered self-sown one as well. It's obviously in their genetic makeup somewhere.

Odd isn't it? First time in ten years it's done this - I split & moved it a couple of years ago, and it seems happier than ever in incredibly dry, shallow soil, melding with the ice plant which had the same move.

I get pink and purple seed around, they charge a fortune for "Canon Went" as if it is summat special.

I'm constantly amazed at the price of buddleias!

I think Canon Went is very pretty, and Peachy too.

In my view all the plants are essentially free.
What you are paying for is the time, overheads and labour to raise them, the infrastructure to let you know they are stocked and for your to buy them, and the transport to get them to you.

I agree, but Buddleia doesn't really need much effort or mollycoddling, l could have made about £500 from my last garden. 😄
