Courgette problems again!

  • @Andrew Kenneth - do you have sufficient number and size drainage holes in your pots? ( look like plastic trugs on solid surface so might benefit from being raised up on feet so can drain freely?). Courgettes have a high water content so at 38 degrees you will need to be copiously watering them but ensuring not waterlogged - this could easily mean deep watering twice a day  ( and will result is=n rotted plants if drainage is insufficient) . Only other thing I can think is that the black pots won't be helping with the soil /roots overheating.
Kindness is always the right choice.
  • Lack of pollination often leads to the fruit not expanding. I would put them outside, and make sure you water well.
When you say put them outside, do you mean transplant them or just carry the pot outside? If it's the later unfortunately, I can't move them now as the pots are too heavy.

Each pot has 10 X 10mm drainage holes in the bottom with plenty old crocks so they don't get blocked and, each pot is raised up off the floor with bricks.
You mentioned black tubs, I was thinking of painting them white to deflect heat but never got around to it this year.

I had another thought, if you could get them outside to aid pollination, you could rig up some shading to put over them for the hottest part of the day. I see you have shading material in your picture. I often have to do this with my tomatoes as the sun can bleach them.
