Moved house with my roses… now struggling

Hi all,

end of March I moved houses. As the new owners to our old house were planning to bulldoze the front garden to make a driveway I decided to dig out my Roald Dahl roses and move them with me. They were difficult to dig out and then got unceremoniously left in pots for a week before being re planted. They are of sentimental value as the first plant I ever picked out and planted.

Anyway they are now really struggling- there are a few obvious issues- they didn’t get much watering (only just had hose tap repaired), they seem to have rust spot and I could probably have done with better pruning previously.

Just wanting some advice on how to make them happy again. Appreciate they may not do much this year but happy to invest time and patience.

Thanks for any advice!

They look fine to me, just water them well, at least two watering cans full each time and maybe once a day while it's so hot and dry, then ease off in cooler or wetter weather.
Don't feed them at this stage. They may well drop some leaves due to the shock of moving but should recover.

Roses are tough at the moment watering at the base is the best thing you can do, I think they will be fine next year with proper feeding and care.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

They’ll be grand .Just water and let them alone then prune in November as usual and plant them where you want them .
