Pyracantha hedge dying in one patch

Does anyone know what might have caused this dead area in a pyracantha hedge. I am concerned it might spread to other parts of the hedge.  Any help would be really appreciated

    They can get fireblight, so it might be that. I had a problem with scab on one of mine a couple of years ago. I pruned everything out and it seems ok.
