Moving Sweet William

I was given (gifted, if you will 😉) a Sweet William by a lovely friend in spring. They're not my favourite plants, but it was a kind gesture and I couldn't refuse. I sort of plonked it in a bit of a random place, intending to have other things going on around it, I just never quite got to that stage. So it sits in splendid isolation at the top of a slight rise and is one of the first things you see when you walk into the garden. Obviously I now realise how fantastic it would look in my pick and mix, vaguely cottage style border. Would moving it now be a REALLY bad idea?

If you keep plenty of soil around it and take special care then it should be fine. You might even find that you want to sow some seeds and grow your own. They are excellent, long lasting cut flowers.
