Double Delight Rose

We have a 20 year old double delight rose which last year and this year is not producing the best flowers.  They all seem to have a very dark edge on the outer petals and they don't look as beautiful as they have in the past.  Does anyone have any idea what is causing this.

    @Vh72 I am sure you will get lots of good advice from the rose growers on this forum.
    I just wondered if your rose is running out of steam! Twenty does seem a good age.
    Also we have had a very dry spring and roses love water. Perhaps the colour of the blooms are affected by the lack of it?
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    Thanks for you reply Suze, We have been watering it quite regularly, i have given it two lots of rose fertilizer this year which we have neglected in the past as we have only got into our gardening in the last couple of years, not very green fingered till then.  I'm learning as I go.  Don't want to give up on the rose as the flowers are amazing when its doing well.

    A lot of flowers take on a darker shade or even change colour completely when exposed to bright sunlight and I wonder if your rose may be one of these. Even here we've had a lot more strong, hot sun than usual and many of the colours seem brighter than usual. Others of course just fade and shrivel, nothing's ever perfect!

    I will give it some TLC this summer and hopefully it will improve.

    @yh72 That is a very good point made by @Buttercupdays I have a salvia and the flowers are lighter in colour than normal. I wondered if that is also caused by strong sunlight.
