Help with poorly Fuscia and Salvia please...

I'm a relative newcomer to gardening and unsure what has caused these spotty and shrivelled leaves, on a fuschia and an adjacent Salvia 'Hot Lips'.  Can anyone advise as to cause and (hopefully) solution please?

    Looks like tiny bugs or disease. Someone here will know.

    Thanks Slow-worm, that's what I'm hoping.  I'm for cutting the plants down but my husband thinks not...

    It is possibly some type of thrips damage, but that is guess.
    The salvia you could reduce by about a third as that would happen in a few weeks anyway (known as the "Hampton Hack").
    According to the RHS website they can be attacked by leaf hoppers, but l'm not sure if the damage would look like that, hopefully someone can confirm. 

    Can't advise about the fuschia l'm afraid.

    I’d definitely hack back the salvia, it makes it more bushy when it grows back.

    Thank you all - have hacked the Salvia, taken out the poorly bits of Fuschia and given it some wood ash (?potassium).  Fingers crossed!
