Lupins

Hi

I'm new to gardening and lupins and just wondered if lupin is supposed to be like photo at top of flower spike? I know slugs and aphids love lupins. I've put grit and pellets down to deter slugs but are the aphids eating it at top? Sigh 😕

If you thing aphids are the problem, boil some rhubarb leaves, strain off the liquid, allow to cool, place in a redundant household spray bottle and spray your blooms with it.  Keep a spare supply for later use when rhubarb has died back.
  • Hi Nick. I really don't know if this is usual for lupins or if they are being eaten. I absolutely love that tip though. I sprayed soapy water but the bees won't like that so this is a much better idea! Thanks
