I've just checked mine and it's mostly white today with odd splashes of red. I don't mind as I prefer that to having the two-tone red and white.
It was a gift from a non-gardening friend and keeps its place as it grows well in a very sunny, well-drained spot and doesn't fuss about cold in winter or drought in summer.

Yes, I've found that Hot Lips is pretty tough. I've found that it survives most winters outside here in NE England provided it's in well-drained soil, despite losing its foliage. I always take a few cuttings though, just in case.
UPDATE! The cuttings that I took last year are all Burgundy colour this year, doing well and planted in the garden. I didn't prune the parent plant back so hard this year and it's flowering much better.
