hedge die back

my daughter has a hedge, part of it nearest the house looks like it is dying although there is a little bit of life near the bottom, there is also a little dead area elsewhere. any ideas of cause and cure please?

    You maybe get more information if you post it in the flower and plant section, this is the fruit and veg problem section.

    Privet can be prone to honey fungus, so it might be that @dave56armstrong.
    No one really bothers about the categories - most folk look at the title of the thread and/or recent discussions, so no need to worry  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    If it is honey fungus the whole hedge is likely to die sooner or later.   The info in this link should help -
