Have we killed Veronica?

Hi, we're very new to gardening and are really trying to make something nice. We bought some Veronica Longifolia last year and planted it next to an acer. This year it came back lush and verdant but was fighting for space so we moved it to a couple of feet away. Since then it's been losing strength and wilting and now it looks like this. Have I planted it badly? Has it been under or over watered? Very ready to learn. Thanks in advance.
(Also photo is sideways. Lol)

Probably not enough water. It'll be struggling to re-establish its roots as well as supporting all that growth and flowers, which is why it's really better to move perennials in spring when they're just starting into growth or autumn when they've done their stuff and you cut them back. It sounds hard but if it doesn't perk up with plenty of water, its best chance of surviving would be if you cut it right back so that it can concentrate on roots for a while. You'd lose this year's flowers though.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • Thank you JennyJ, we'll do exactly that and be better prepared for next year!
