Perhaps when I become a more experienced gardener, I will start appreciating 'greenery' (for want of a better term).  Presently, I much prefer colour.  However, I've just noticed this plant growing in a pot, and I have to say, I am attracted to its well defined shape & sheen.  Can anybody tell me what it is?

    One of the prunus family … Cherry/plum etc seedling. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Interesting that you say it could be plum, as it has been right next to my plum tree, that I've spoken about, today.   The leaves do look much more waxy than the plum tree I have, though I guess that could be a developmental thing.  Thanks for your help !

    @paulpuk2000 The fact that you have been attracted to a lovely green leaf is just the beginning! Flowers are short lived compared to leaves. I always plan a border with leaves in mind.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    True.  I'm only just beginning the journey.  Time will tell.  I don't assume that I'm right, because I see so many experts who love them, for various reasons.  I'm just not attracted to them, presently, for whatever reason.  And pretending doesn't seem right.  :-)
