Spittlebug Survey

Scientists are asking for your help. They are worried that the spittlebug foam could be a carrier of a pathogen that's decimating plants in Italy. For now scientists need to map areas where this foam is mostly concentrated.

    and the problem they are supposed to pass on is not in Britain (yet).

    As I understand it, the purpose of the survey was to map the incidence of spittle bugs, so that if/when xyella makes it here, the areas where it might spread most rapidly were already known so preventive measures can be strategically targeted.

    Surprised if they're not everywhere in the UK.. I always thought they were fairly ubiquitous!

    We certainly have them here. The little froghoppers are busy just now. I noticed yesterday there was a fair bit of foam on a few plants. 
    I just let them get on with it. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
