Does anyone know what tree this came from?

For the last few weeks I've been sweeping up and raking hundreds of these and they really stick to the grass (it is driving me nuts), I don't remember seeing so many before but we have had several days of windy weather, would like to find out more about what they are and which tree they come from. :)

I’d always classed this tree as a pest,  they come up everywhere here and it pull them out.  I didn’t realise what an important tree this is,  just reading this very interesting article about them,  I see them in a different light now.

It’s a nuisance in most ‘ordinary’ sized gardens but great for wildlife if you have the acreage for it. 😊

thanks so much guys!  I think it is definitely the 'Goat' Willow (well done Hostafan) after looking at that link Lyn posted - great site btw, I'm going to download that free tree identifier app (we have millions so may take some time :D).  A mystery has been cleared up though after looking at that Woodland Tust site - we sometimes get great swathes of this fluffy white stuff everywhere and I know know it's from these trees - their way of propagating.
