I've got some seeds, can I sow now in June?

I have some seeds and I wonder if anyone knows if any of them are okay to plant now (June) for this year?  I have some really annoying gaps I'd like to fill.

I'm happy I can sow Nasturtium & Night Scented Stock - would you agree?

The ones I'm unsure of are mainly:  Stock Night Scented Starlight Sensation
How about: Cornflower?  Wallflower?

Unsure:  Many give until May to plant on the pack (not June) The ones I think I'm possibly best saving til Autumn (for next year) are:
Californian Poppies
Aubrietia
Aquilegia
Forget me not
Evening Primrose
Linaria

I would want to sow direct.
Would you chance any on the Unsure list or should I save them?

Thank you for any help from your experience / knowledge.

I think you could sow forget-me-nots now because we're only just past the time for them to be setting seed naturally. I have self-sown seedlings popping up all over.

I would sow the Californian poppies in the Autumn.  I don't think you would be very successful sowing aubretia seeds direct if l'm honest.

Okay - never tried them before but do love them and would really like to include so will do them properly rather than risk losing the opportunity for next year. I do have some poppies so will sow them for next year.  Thank you  :)

Excellent.  I'll give them a shot then. Thank you  :)

I would sow them all now, in pots except the Californian Poppies, outside somewhere out of the sun.

If there are enough seeds in the packet, I'd sow some of each sort now (in pots, as @nutcutlet recommends), leaving some seeds to sow in autumn.  There are often far more seeds in the packet than you could possibly need, anyway, so you can probably do a bit of experimentation.

In my experience, direct sowing gives very haphazard results - cats dig in your nice soft border, or the flower seedlings are indistinguishable from weeds, or slugs munch them, or nothing comes up at all and you're left with a gap... at least if you've got some seedlings in pots you can grow them on and pop them in a space, once they're big enough to fight their corner.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I've done that - what's the worse that can happen :) Thank you

Yes, I bit the bullet with some and as you also said, even though haphazard a little experiment might be fun - and keep some back to add later.  Thank you :)

I sowed some seeds (including cornflowers) direct into a border on 24th June last year - Definitely worth a try, in my book.
They are lovely!  I've done it as a bit of an experiment. We've had some nice days so maybe I'll be as lucky as you were. :) Thank you

I've kept the Aubrieta and find out how to get flowers out of them next year + the poppies (except I may try a cheeky few) as Anne & nutcutlet says.

We're having some fab weather so just maybe I'll be lucky with those I've tried but nothing ventured, nothing gained, be interesting and I will update if any success.

Many thanks to you all - regards, Faye x

A couple of months later I had a mini jungle, which lasted until the end of October.

Definitely worth a try, in my book.
    Amazing!
Every single wildower seed I've ever scattered has failed to produce a thing. They're going in trays this year!
