    Snails?
they hide among your pots and sneak out at night.

  • Hi thanks for the response I have put some copper tape around the pots hopefully that will help .
I am open to any suggestions to stop them

Apart from the copper tape, l would check the pots over carefully every day/evening.
Check the bottom of the pot and also the staging (top and underneath) etc if the plants are in a greenhouse.
I'm assuming you don't want to use slug pellets.

    Use slug/snail pellets.
The old toxic variety based on metaldehyde have now been banned.
The new pellets are based on Iron Phosphate which are wildlife friendly (except for some slugs and snails).
They also break down in the soil to provide your plant with a little iron and phosphate fertilizer.

  • Hello thanks for your responses I am going to try with coffee grounds and see how that goes.

we do have some Doff slug pellets taht are used around some flowers, these contain Ferric Phosphate and are supposed to be suitable for organic gardening so maybe they would be ok.
    It is quite disappointing.

    Thanks Chris
