Wooden Boards have left dents in/squashed my new turf!! HELP!!

I've recently had some turf laid to complete the garden, on the first night one of the children in the family kicked a ball onto it so I used wooden planks to retrieve said ball but the wooden planks seem to have dented/squashed the areas they was on.

is this something to be worried about?? or will it sort its self out over time? i left it for a few days and yes it isn't as visible but that's only because the grass has grown slightly(I can see it clearly)

if it is a problem, what would be the best solution!

i have only had my turf laid for 5 days and I would just have to be the one to do this!!

Should be fine. Next time leave the ball though. 😉
Worst case scenario is lifting the turf and adding soil, but much later on.

I don't think you have too much to worry about, it should probably sort itself out in a week or two.
If it's still very noticeable after you've cut it a couple of times then as @Slow-worm says you can lift the turf and add soil to level it, but l would wait until it's established.
You might find there are other areas that need re-levelling as well.

I know it's difficult with children, but if it happens again can you reach the ball with a broom, rake or suchlike to avoid having to stand on it ? It might even be better to take long strides to reach it, rather than concentrating your weight in one spot, but others might be able to confirm  :)

You can hose a ball off grass - get the kids to do it at watering time. 😉

If the dent is still visible after a few months when the grass should be growing well and being cut regularly, you can gradually add topsoil - just 1cm or half an inch at a time brushed in so that the grass blades poke through it, then leave it until you can't see the new soil any more and repeat. It might take a good while to completely fill the dent but avoids lifting and disturbing the turf.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I think a dent or two from a board is of little consequence when you have children, especially if they enjoy kicking a ball around.
It's rarely worth trying to have a perfect lawn when you have those  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

You can also hose kids off the lawn ... but that's not the point. o:)
