I don't knowingly kill anything I find, except excessive greenfly or blackfly! But I must be more alert when scything nettles in future - I do have an awful lot of them in the paddocks.
Here they are two days later, very active so pic might be a bit blurry, they've moved onto adjoining nettles and seem to have doubled in size. I won't bore you with any more photos, except maybe when they're fully grown (don't know how long that takes). And yes, @mikeymustard, suffered a bit of urticaria taking the photo!
I think those might be peacock butterfly larvae. They [torties and peacock] are quite similar early on, but peacocks have white spots on them, while torties have greeny yellow bits. If you keep an eye on them you'll maybe see that later and be able to tell which ones it is
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
