Looks like a Phlomis, assuming it's that one you are referring to.

I agree, it looks like Phlomis russeliana.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

For a warm sunny spot. Don't deadhead looks good all winter if not blown about.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

No that is not the Phlomis it has more of soft furry leaf. Sorry not sure what your buds are. Will get back if I have any ideas.

Could even be an iris. Can you show the whole plant, maybe put a piece of white card behind it to isolate it.
