Mystery plant

Hello, can anyone identify this plant from buds please (foreground)

    Looks like a Phlomis, assuming it's that one you are referring to.

    I agree, it looks like Phlomis russeliana.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    For a warm sunny spot. Don't deadhead looks good all  winter if not blown about.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    Nectaroscordum siculum , about to open I think.  Another week and you will know for sure.

    No that is not the Phlomis it has more of soft furry leaf. Sorry not sure what your buds are. Will get back if I have any ideas.

    Could even be an iris. Can you show the whole plant, maybe put a piece of white card behind it to isolate it.
