Cotoneaster lactus

I have a well established cotoneaster which was covered in berries through the winter.  It’s about 8ft high.  It looks healthy enough but this year is seems to be continually dropping leaves, mainly yellow.  I don’t remember this happening in previous years.  Any ideas? Thanks.

If you're in a dry part of the country, or have had long spells of dry weather, that's quite normal.
All evergreens will drop foliage, and replace it, but they do it even more when stressed in order to save the bulk of the plant, so if it's on the dry side. that's what will be happening.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thank you. That may well be it then.  I live in West Sussex and although it doesn’t feel as if I live in a dry part of the country I guess I do especially when compared with west central Scotland.  Thanks for your help.

I think many areas have been very dry. It was very dry here all winter and early spring, but that's compared to what we normally have!
It should come away, but if you feel it needs some water, then give it a really thorough soaking. It'll revive once you have some good rainfall  :)

Mine is just flowering - I always love that. Bee central all along the fence   :)

Mine isn’t quite flowering yet.  But it is certainly very popular with the birds in winter.  The berries just seem to last until March.  We’re due some very hot weather this week so I will give it a good soaking.
