Lupin leaves drooping

Hi all
Only bought lupins a week ago. They have doubled in size and are sprouting more flower stems which I wasn't expecting but for some reason the foliage is drooping. The foliage looked lovely when I got them all fanned out. My neighbour said they just need more water. Is that right?

Yes … they need a lot of water to support all that growth … the roots probably aren’t very established yet … and particularly if the sun is shining and the leaves are losing moisture from that plus a drying wind … so give them lots of water around the base of the plant … pour it on gently so it really soaks in.

I don’t know whereabouts you are,  but I was doing some work in the garden here in Norfolk yesterday, and the soil is really dry a few inches below the surface and that’s where the roots are.

  • Thank you Dove. Yes the soil was quite dry yesterday. The foliage looks so lovely when it's all fanned out, it was a bit sad to see. Hopefully they will perk up again with some more water then. Thank you 😊
