Advice for shady(ish) border

twfbfoleytwfbfoley Posts: 7
Hello, I’m looking for some advice on a border in my garden. It’s a small garden in London and the border is west facing. It gets limited sun due to where the neighbouring houses are, but on sunny days it will get a good few hours of bright sunshine in the late afternoon and evening.

I'm looking for inspiration as to what might work! Previously there was lavender which the previous owner planted which did well, but it grew very old and woody.

I am thinking of replacing the lavender but can anyone recommend what might go well?

Many thanks

Campanula such as Prichards Variety (not all campanula like shade so you need to check the variety).
    Dicentra
    Certain varieties of hardy geranium

How big is the border @twfbfoley and what is your soil like?  Is there anything else in the border you plan to keep?  Also, are you looking only for flowering plants or would something evergreen be of interest?  A photo would help with recommendations.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.
