Honeysuckle bare in the middle

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew why our honeysuckle seems to be very bare in the middle but has leafs at the top and bottom.

It's planted in John innes number 3 along with plenty of compost.

All our other climbers are doing great.

Honey suckles need partial shade so maybe it is too sunny for it at the moment. Looks like you also have clematis armandii growing (everygreen one and brilliant for winter flowering and scent). Are they getting enough water with all the gravel you have around?
