Persistent Weeds under Artificial Grass

Hi all, this is my first post so I'm something of an amateur in this area so forgive me for lack of knowledge in advance (hence my being here!).

I have an issue that appears to be developing with my artificial grass I just laid out.
We recently had the area cleaned of weeds, I then sprayed the entire plot with concentrated weed killer followed by layering of sharp sand and MOT.

This was topped off with a weed control membrane I pinned to the ground and then the artificial grass.

--Problem--
I am now seeing some weeds grow and push up the artificial grass from underneath creating some small humps on the area! So I'm now stumped as to where we went wrong and what I should to do problem solve. Is there a way I can tackle this without having to dig the entire thing up again?

Can you take a photo of the weeds?
Do your neighbours have large weeds in their gardens ? Or trees.

What kind of weed killer did you use and how long did you wait before applying the other layers on top?
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

  • Most weedkillers work on contact with the leaves. If you cleared the ground then the weedkiller may not do much on bare ground and it could be things like dandelions regrowing as they have long tap roots that need digging out or they just regrow.
  • I think it's Mare's tail and some other weeds, will try and get some pictures later.

I saw metal mesh type things that can be laid under the grass, would that work (considering the membrane is immediately under the grass itself?

Mate's tail can get through tarmac or concrete - no trouble😕

Not an expert butI think you might have to peel it back and see exactly what's under there.
