Tree disease?

My plum cherry tree after flowering has some sort of die back at the end of the branches, there are some small bore holes in the trunk, also the trunk seems to be covered in some shiny substance, can anyone offer advice please? Pictures attached

    That looks like physical damage to the bark allowing rot to set in
