Camellia Sasanqua Yuletide

Alan.F.Alan.F. Posts: 24
Hi,

Just purchased a Camellia yuletide (couldn't resist at the price) but getting conflicting information online about where is best to plant. Some sites say shade and others full sun so I'm a bit confused. Can any of you knowledgeable people put me out my misery and tell me where's best to plant  :dizzy:

Thanks
Alan.

Did read that they can grow to 25ft....then it said it would take 100yrs so don't think I have to worry about that.

Think they are quite slow growing, hopefully someone can confirm.

    Thanks
    Alan.
  • I have 3 sasanqua camellias growing in containers on my south-facing patio. It is quite a stint to keep them adequately watered during hot spells. I treat them the same as my other camellias. They need ericaceous soil, and prefer part shade and damp soil during the summer months. Mine flower any time from Christmas onwards, one always flowers from Oct. until around March, all are slightly scented and slow growing. When they  are in flower I move them into the conservatory but the rest of the tear they live outside as they are not hot house plants.

Thank you, I will probably put it in the back garden then. It won't get the sun until the afternoon there. Thanks again for the advise, looking forward to seeing it in bloom.
