Broadleaf Cockspur - leaves turning brown

Hi All, a week ago I planted a pot gown Broadleaf Cockspur tree (Crataegus Persimilis Prunifolia). Now many of the leaves are turning brown.
It's gone into very open, recently cultivated soil and had a good initial watering in. Do you think the problem is just some shock from being planted in summer, with maybe me being a bit too heavy handed on roughing up the roots, and it just needs a good drink. Or do you think there's a more sever problem? Thanks.
