    Hello @mike_ruddell
Welcome to the forum. To change your user name just go to the top of this page and click on Gardeners World. com top left and bring up the second screenshot. Go to My Account on top right which will give you the chance to change your user name. Change it then click save. It might take a while or even a log out and back in for it to catch up though. See screen shots below.

It took ages to change mine from the one that the forum automatically gave me, about 24 hours if I remember. If it doesn't happen then a message to admin will sort it.

  • Weather cleared up a bit today. Here’s a couple of pics showing the lay of the land.
This weekends project will be gates and fencing. Once the dog is safely contained can focus on the more exciting things!

  • thanks songbird. Username thing all sorted now. Just looking forward to the weekend, it’s great to have family visit to see the new place but I need to get stuck in to garden projects.
Having said that mum is handy with a fork so may set her on to weeding tasks! 😛

Looks a beautiful spot! Bags of potential with that plot too!
  • Hi All, sorry I haven't updated since my first post, you know what it's like after moving home!

We haven't managed to get stuck in to much real gardening as such yet, more getting the foundations laid. Despite the heat of last week I did manage to get 2 dull but important tasks ticked off the list.

Back gate built, installed and painted. Keeps the dog contained.

Secondly the 'stairs up to my office which sits above the garage were way more rickety than expected. Demolished, started from scratch.

MAnaged to use mainly recycled timber so only needed 2 new deck boards and concrete for the posts. about £50 all in. (and beers for my mate who helped!)

This weekend weather permitting the lawn needs some attention, it's gone over the edge between meadow and jungle now. Will also be building proto-compost heap to start with all the grass clippings and cardboard we have left over from the move.

Fingers crossed for a dry day or two!

    Mike

    That’s some impressive joinery!
  • Thanks Jelly! It’s certainly not elegant but it’s going nowhere. When the floods come it’ll double as my Ark! ;)

alas weather today is very ‘Welsh’ so indoors putting up shelves. :(
