What is this plant please?

Hi all,

Ive had this plant in its pot for 5+ years. Its ever green. It has delicate red flowers for a couple of weeks every May.

I have a space in the flower beds so Im thinking of letting it loose. But before I do I thought it would be a good idea to find out what it actually is!

Apologies for blurry photos!

Thanks

    Looks like azalea?

I would agree. It looks exactly like the one I bought recently which was in flower and the flowers lasted about a week. It now looks almost dead apart from a few green leaves. Still trying to make up my mind what to do with it. May put it in a pot and out of sight as it does nothing to enhance the garden at the moment. Very disappointed. :/

Japanese azalea. They can take more sun than most rhodos, but a neutral to acidic soil is best.
They're very slow growing, and don't get too big. Quite different to the majority of rhodos.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
