Are these Foxhloves or Poppy leaves

CasparCaspar Posts: 32
Hello Everyone

I mainly grow veg but took a stab at planting some flower seeds from last years plants, this year.  However I didn't label these and am now not sure if these are poppys or foxgloves.  Can anyone tell by the leaf?

Many thanks
Caspar

What sort of poppies were they?  They look more like some poppies …

Foxgloves have leaves with smooth edges so I'm guessing you have one of the hairy cut leaved poppy.

The poppy seeds where all from one seed head put in one envelope, and the foxgloves again where all from one seed head put in a separate envelope, not labelled : - (

I planted a sprinkling and this many came up, but I am not familiar with the leaves at this stage for either plant,  so thought I would ask.

That's great news 'the victorian'  as my friend had the most vibrant massive reddy/orange poppy in her garden and she gave me a seedhead last year.  I was hoping these were they, but I planted seeds in 6 small pots and each have around 10 plants in, I don't know where I am going to put them all, as never expected so many to grow!

"Beauty of livermere" is a perennial papaver (oriental poppy) that sounds like you describe. We have some that I think are those and they are lovely and easy from seed.

I've just looked up the 'beauty of livermere' up and yes the seeds came from one's that were tall, big and open like the images on google.  I can't wait to see them grow.  But have to think of various places I can plant them on, now that I have so many : - )

    Thanks for all your help.
