Is it False Lily of the Valley,  I don’t know the correct name.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

The flowers with serated leaves do look like a valariana. Is it definitely the smooth leaves that belong to it? You seem to have two plants mixed up there.

@REMF33 think the serrated leaves are the valeriana photos posted by silversurfer ( not the OP pics)?

edit to add - - although in the two leaf pics posted by OP  ( the one where silver surfer could see the leaves were opposite in the first pic) - to me the second pic shows very slight serration.

The seration is very very slight, hardly noticeable. Was saying that because on the photos posted by silver surfer it’s easily noticeable.

Don’t think the flowers are right for false lily of valley & the leaves of those are really smooth! But that’s the most like it so far.

I’ve had a suggestion of buckwheat.

    I grow buckwheat - plant bought at Beth Chatto's garden - https://www.bethchatto.co.uk/conditions/plants-for-general-conditions/fagopyrum-dibotrys.htm

The flowers are cream and frothy and not like the OP's photo.  However, other forms of fagopyrum are available so maybe one of those would fit.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I asked for Id help from RHS & got Valarian Alliariifolia as response
  • It looks like beans or ivy or sweet potato, and yes it does look like buckwheat too. Maybe not some of those since there are flowers with that shape.
