Honeysuckle Help!

Help!
What has happened to my honeysuckle!? I planted it toward the beginning of the year and it was doing great, lots of new growth and it shot up. 
Now the top is ok but all the leaves have dropped off the bottom and the branches are bare and any leaves cloning on seem to have a milky white coating!
Can I rescue it still!?
(I know I need to do the weeding 😬)

    I think it's suffering from powdery mildew, but hopefully someone else can confirm. 
    Is it in a sunny or shady position, and do you know which variety it is ?

    I can't see the photo but they like lots and lots of water. It has been a very dry spring, mildew can be caused bt both wet and very dry conditions, it needs a good soak twice a week until Autumn. 
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
