Bugs on rose

Could anyone help identify this bug I’ve found on my rambling rose please, is it harmful and if so how to I treat it?

    Ladybird larvae — don’t kill it  :)

They eat lots of aphids, mites and other pests

They also predate on aphids, which roses frequently get, so that's a great addition to your garden  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • oh wow, that’s such a relief, I’ve never seen them before and found a few on the table that’s situated directly under the rose, I thought it was something that would destroy the rose, thank you for helping me 👍

There is usually a thread every year letting everyone know that those are ladybird babies and to be welcomed in any garden.
  • I’ve only just joined so wasn’t aware of any previous posts but thank you for making me aware

Welcome to the forum @janetwinter81LqVEnn9B … I hope we can share our gardening adventures together. 😊

I’m sure Debs meant no criticism … I think she was reminding us regulars to keep bumping the Ladybird larvae thread up at this time of year so new folk come across it. 😊

Your rose is glorious  …  which is it?

My daughter @WonkyWomble has a Rosa ‘Mermaid’ growing over the shed at the end of her garden in a similar way. It’s also covered with baby ladybirds most years. 😊

@janetwinter81LqVEnn9B So many people are not sure what Ladybird larvae look like. Thank you for posting these photos lots more people will read this thread and now know what they are.
